Happy New Year Everyone from London! To new beginnings and great fortune in life and love!
Bathroom self portrait from 2012.
Greenpoint is one on a number of very cool neighborhoods in New York City. This self-portrait is part of the SNYC Newsletter photo assignment of the week to take a photo with a natural frame. Of and it’s my favorite kind of selfies, a reflection. Self-Portrait in Greenpoint, Brooklyn 3 June 2017. https://www.shootnewyorkcity.com/blog/2017/6/3/self-portrait-in-greenpoint
Another self-portrait with Rauschenberg at MoMA. 18 May 2017. https://www.leannestaples.com/blog/2017/5/23/self-portrait-with-rauschenberg-2
Yesterday I went to MoMA to see the new Robert Rauschenberg exhibit. I am a big fan of his work and I took a number of intentional camera movement photos while there and one or two other selfies. Perhaps you will see in the near future a series from that day. For now a blurry me! – 18 May 2017 self-portrait with Rauschenberg. https://www.leannestaples.com/blog/2017/5/19/self-portrait-with-rauschenberg
That’s a real question! It’s funny how diverse the range of definitions for the word photographer exist. In the photography world there are high-brow elitists who insist on a very narrow definition of the word. Maybe only highly paid professionals would be included in that group. And then there’s the everyone is a photographer world, as just about everyone carries a camera with them at all times regardless if they use it or the sorts of photos they take. I believe that somewhere in the middle of those 2 groups there exists a group of people who are just plain passionate about photography! That is the group that I belong to. A woman told me yesterday that she’s “in love with her camera again!” That’s a true sign of a photographer in my interpretation of the word! www.leannestaples.com
